Help can come from anyone, and this time it came from a Husky.

Amelia Milling, a deaf hiker, slipped when her trekking poles snapped. She was surely alone on a trail in a snow-covered Alaskan mountain when this unfortunate thing happened. There were no other people to help her out.

She slid down the mountainside and landed 300 feet on a huge rock. She then plummeted 400 feet.

Luckily, she was awake and unharmed. As she lay on the ground, analyzing her condition, a big white beast appeared. Amelia initially mistook it for a wolf, but then recognized that it wore a collar.

The collar that the dog wore had the dog’s address which was Crow Pass Guide. It also held the dog’s name, Nanook. The dog was often known as Nookie and this husky serves as a guide dog for lost hikers.

Nanook walked to where Amelia was while she tried to set up camp for the night. The dog kept watch over her when she slept. When she awoke, the dog was still waiting outside her tent. They were together for about 36 hours.

Amelia tried to get out of her situation and decided to cross a river. However, a strong river current prevented Amelia from doing this. She almost drowned, but Nanook grabbed her backpack’s straps and dragged her to the riverbank.

Then Amelia saw her GPS device inside her now open backpack. She used her phone to call for help, and state troopers rushed to her aid. Amelia and Nanook survived the whole ordeal.

It was the dog that dragged Amelia out of the rushing river. She thanks Nookie for her life.

Nanook’s owner said the dog had a great sense to save humans. The dog once saved a lost girl in the same area years before Amelia got stuck there.
