Dogs and children are among the precious living things in the world. One thing in common to these two is that their innocence is very much intact in them. More than this, a dog and a child can also build a good relationship between them.

Lewis Millar is no stranger to this narrative. The 10-year-old boy recently acquired a dog from the Assistance Dogs Northern Ireland (ADNI). He penned a compelling and heartwarming letter to the center that granted him a pooch he promised to love for the rest of his life.

Lewis is a child with autism. Even with his condition, the young boy exudes so much positivity and love. Despite his positivity, the child, just like any other child, also faces daily struggles in life.

It was Lewis’ mother, Danielle Cooper, who thought of providing the child with a dog. She believed that a dog would improve her son’s daily life. Since she wants to get her son a dog, Danielle encouraged Lewis to write a letter to the center. This way, it will help the assessors grant their request for a particular dog that would fit Lewis’ profile.

In the letter, Lewis explained his condition. He said that he has trouble controlling his emotions. Apart from this, Lewis also finds it hard to read peoples’ reactions. Thereby he comes off as a rough child to some children his age.

Lewis further explained that a dog from ADNI would help him with his problem since he believes that they are trained to handle children with a condition like his. Little did Lewis know that this heartwarming explanation would give him a dog in time for the holiday season.

When the dog arrived at their home, the family named the pooch Jade. Lewis was so static that his request was granted. Lewis’ parents, on the other hand, thanked the assessors for their affirmative response to their son’s letter.
