Couple Victoria Martinez and Brian Fair visited Puerto Rico about a year ago to see their relatives. Brian observed something moving in the grass while visiting Playa de Maunabo. He looked around to see what it was and discovered a little puppy hiding in the bush.

The pair requested assistance from the rest of their group. Their family rushed over and handed them a cloth to put around the tiny pup. They then walked to their automobiles and returned home with the small one.

Victoria and Brian reasoned that the puppy must be missing. As a result, they agreed to wait for anyone who was looking for him. They bathed and fed the dog while they waited.

Days went by with no one coming forward. Victoria and Brian were also unable to locate the puppy’s owner.

The pair would soon be on their way back to their home as their visit was about to end. They didn’t want to just let the dog back on the streets, though.

Victoria and Brian promised a few days before their departure that they would not abandon the puppy. He was supposed to be with them, they knew. As a result, they immediately began preparing the documentation required to bring him to the United States.

The puppy was put through a series of tests to ensure he wasn’t unwell. All of the tests, thankfully, came out negative. And the puppy was given the go-ahead to travel internationally.

Victoria and Brian called their new dog Taino, which means “golden nugget” in Spanish.

Taino quickly adapted to his new surroundings. He also enjoys his new life in Florida.

Taino is fortunate to have met such a wonderful family. Victoria and Brian also are extremely fortunate to have Taino in their lives. Victoria even said that their house has become more of a home as a result of this beautiful dog.
