Judy and Walter Preston, residents of Ohio, took their dog, Maggie, to their office. They then had to go out but could not take the dog with them, so they put her in a crate. However, when they returned, Maggie was nowhere to be found.

Everyone helped out by posting lost dog flyers, organizing search parties, and putting up cameras and live traps everywhere. Luckily, the search party didn’t give up, and Maggie was eventually found. Every year, dogs get lost or stolen.

They are also usually hit and killed by cars when they run out into the street because they don’t know the rules of the road and can’t judge danger. Dogs get distracted easily by new smells, sights, and sounds. They also tend to be fearful of loud noises and street lights, which force them to run away.

That is why it’s so important for canines to wear collars with tags that display your name and address, to ensure that anyone who finds them can get in touch with you. Dogs love to explore and investigate anything that catches their interest. They can also get lost if you accidentally leave a gate open.

If you live in a busy neighborhood, it’s even more likely that your dog will get into trouble. Identification tags are a good start, but a microchip will give you the best chance of getting your dog back if he’s lost. The chip itself is small and painless to insert.

The microchip can hold information about you and your pet, which makes it easier for anyone to contact you. Should your dog get lost, the shelter will scan him for a microchip and contact you right away so you can come and get him. Microchips don’t require batteries or charging, and they last for years.

Your pet’s microchip will continue to work even after he’s gone through metal detectors at the airport.
