Twelve years ago, a sweet dog named Zoey wandered away from her family’s house in Stockton, California. She was found by Brandon Levin of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Levin scanned the dog for a microchip and learned that her owner reported the canine missing in 2010.

The sheriff’s office added that the microchip company also declared it deceased because a lot of time passed and yet the dog was still nowhere to be found. The sheriff’s office took a chance and contacted the phone number on the dog’s microchip. Fortunately, Zoey’s owner had kept the same phone number and was able to answer the call.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office recently posted a heart-warming video of the reunion of the dog and her owner, Michelle. She shared that their family adopted the dog and her twin sister from the county pound. However, just after six months, Zoey suddenly ran off and disappeared.

Michelle said that seeing Zoey was a pleasant, unexpected surprise. She hadn’t anticipated the two of them ever meeting again, so she was happy. She hopes to bring the dog back home and get her healthy again.

No words can describe how happy a pet owner is to meet their missing pet after years of searching for them. As the world turns, pets may run away from home or get lost for various reasons. They may have felt unsafe or scared in the home and decided to leave, or someone else took them away.

This leaves them unable to find their way back to their home. Some owners assume that they will never see their pets again, while others do not give up on them and seek help. Fortunately, some people have found ways to reunite lost pets with their owners using microchips and social media.
