In a Twitter thread, Kelly Dowling of Glastonbury, Connecticut praised her family’s 8-year-old Boston Terrier named Henry for saving her 9-month-old daughter’s life. She said she does not know what would have happened if not for the dog.

Kelly said that Henry got her and her husband Jeff’s attention when she would not stop headbutting the door to her daughter’s nursery. Every time she tried to shoo him away, he would only go back to keep doing the same thing. After the dog opened the door several times, the couple finally checked on their daughter and found that she was having trouble breathing.

The Dowlings brought their baby to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center right away. Thankfully, the doctors cleared her airway and sent her home.

In her post, Kelly explained that her daughter was sick, and at that time, she was starting to get irritated because Henry’s noise might wake her up. Little did she know, the dog felt that something was wrong and he wanted to get inside the nursery so he could check on the baby.

Kelly shared that Henry usually hides under their bed when scolded. However, at that time, he did not seem affected and just continued to headbutt the nursery’s door open. Because of the pup’s persistence, Kelly discovered that her daughter was already starting to turn rigid and go blue due to a lack of oxygen.

Kelly also thanked the hospital in one of her tweets. She referred to the staff as literal heroes and said they went above and beyond to care for her child. She added that Henry would be getting more gifts and that they would be spoiling the dog a little bit more. The couple also allowed the pup to sleep in bed with them and promised him a steak in his future.
