Nothing could keep a dog named Heart away from Soul, her best friend. After their family abandoned them on the roadside, these dogs stayed together for safety and warmth. They became each other’s source of comfort and love.
So when Soul got into an accident and was injured one day, Heart never left his side. Fortunately, Donna Lochmann, the chief lifesaving officer of an animal rescue organization, came across the unfortunate accident and helped them.
First, Lochmann put Heart on a leash and secured the dog in her car’s front seat. She then grabbed a blanket and placed Soul on top of it. She gently carried the injured dog and loaded him into her vehicle.
Despite being strapped in the front, Heart’s eyes were on her best friend the whole time. Upon arriving at the shelter, she remained Soul’s faithful lookout.
X-rays revealed Soul’s severe injuries. Unfortunately, the rescuer and the veterinarian could not do anything more to save him.
The staff let Heart be there beside Soul during his final moments. Heart hugged her best friend goodbye, and Soul went peacefully.
After separating Heart from her deceased friend, the staff gave her attention and care. Then, they started planning how to reunite the pooch with her soulmate.
Lochmann and the other rescuers got Heart a charm where they put some of Soul’s ashes and attached the pendant to her collar. Now, Soul is always with her.
After a couple of days at the shelter, Heart went into a foster home. Lochmann said that the dog is doing well in her new home. While the dog still has no forever home, Lochmann and other shelter staff will ensure that Soul is always with Heart.
Wherever Heart ends up, Soul’s pawprint will always be with her. Although they had to bid farewell, the best friends will remain by each other’s side forever.
