When couple Laura and Evan lost their German Shepherd, a volunteer at the Miami-Dade County Animal Services felt they would enjoy meeting Rusty, a German Shepherd mix. Laura decided to give it a go despite the fact that they did not believe they were ready for a new dog. But she still visited the animal shelter and met the dog in person.

Rusty, who was once known as Brownie, and Laura and Evan’s deceased dog both had ears that flopped to the side. The couple agreed to adopt the dog because it was essentially all they required. Laura signed the papers and enthusiastically brought the newest member of their pack home.

During the first few weeks, Rusty was preoccupied with his medical concerns. However, as he began to recover, he did not stop. The next thing anyone knew, he had grown into this enormous, cheerful dog who adores cuddling with his father.

Rusty snuggles with his father at every opportunity. He never leaves his side and ensures that he is a part of everything Evan undertakes. As the shadow of his father, he follows Evan everywhere.

Laura is pleased to learn that Rusty and her husband get along famously. Occasionally, however, she cannot help but feel a little envious. No matter what she does to entice him to join her, the dog always picks his father.

The bond between Rusty and Evan is so deep that they refuse to be parted for even a second. Everything they do, including watching television, eating snacks, and napping, must be done together. They even go to bed and wake up at precisely the same time every night and morning.

Rusty weighed 92 pounds upon his return home, and he struggled to gain weight. Two years later, he weighed an incredible 142 pounds due to excessive eating and sleeping. But because his parents love him so much, they put him on a tighter diet to prevent him from becoming overweight.

Rusty endured much while living on the streets for several months. But now that he has a loving family, he will never again struggle.
