A dog named Molly spent her entire life in the mountains. She often visited a community nearby but only stayed in a vacant lot where there weren’t too many people. Unlike any other homeless dog, she hunted rabbits and squirrels for food. Surely, she wasn’t a typical stray.

Locals tried to rescue Molly more than a dozen times but failed. She just kept escaping and refused to get caught. She was practically a neighborhood stray dog because everyone knew her, except, she didn’t like any of them.

Eventually, people stopped chasing after her. She was doing fine, after all. She didn’t look sick and she had no injuries at all. But when the lot where she used to stay closed, someone had to take action and that’s when Ryan Graney, Molly’s future mom, stepped in.

Ryan knew Molly all along. Like her neighbors, she didn’t worry much about the dog because it knew how to hunt. But knowing it would lose the only place it called home was a completely different story.

For a whole month, Ryan fed the dog in the hope of gaining its trust. She didn’t stop until it got used to having her around. And before long, all her efforts paid off because she was finally able to touch the dog.

Molly entrusted that Ryan wouldn’t hurt her. She had reservations at first but then, she realized, it won’t hurt giving it a try. She tracked her down the street, waited for her outside her home, and then followed her into her yard. Since then, she became Ryan’s watchdog and she guarded and protected her house like it was her own.

A year quickly went by and Ryan decided it was time to get the dog to safety. She put Benadryl in a piece of hotdog and then fed it to the pup. She waited until it took effect, and when the pup was sound asleep, she carried it inside her house.

When Molly woke up, she was clueless about where Ryan took her. But she felt the cold breeze from the AC and realized that it felt good. In fact, it was much better than the hot weather outside. And from that day, Molly decided she’s never going back to the mountains.
