Makayla Swift is an artist who lives with her husband and their pet, a rescue Beagle named Milo. She considers her pooch her son and credits him for helping her escape depression when she lost her mom. And she is not the only human that the two-year-old dog saved.

Milo was hailed a hero when he took his owner to their elderly neighbor’s house, which then led to the discovery of the home owner’s accident. This is all thanks to the dog’s amazing hearing ability.

All the way across the street

One November morning, Makayla took Milo out for a walk when something strange happened. They were barely out the door when Milo, usually a relaxed and timid pooch, bolted away. The sudden force yanked the dog’s leash from his owner’s hand.

Makayla tried to catch her pet, but he was too fast. She could only watch as the dog ran across the street. Thankfully, there were no cars on the road at that time.

Milo went directly to one house and ran up the porch. He then started barking like crazy. By the time Makayla caught up with the pooch, he was already scratching the door repeatedly.

Injured and trapped

Makayla gathered her pet, and as they were leaving, she heard a desperate voice coming from the second-floor window. The resident was shouting for help. Makayla went inside and found her 85-year-old neighbor trapped between the tub and the bathroom wall. She had fallen and couldn’t get up.

According to the senior lady, she went to the bathroom very early that day because she heard a noise coming from the outside. After taking a peek out the window, she stepped back and slipped. She had been shouting for hours.

Milo must have heard her, and as soon as he got out of the house, the dog got the chance to respond.

The injured lady was immediately rushed to the hospital after Makayla called the emergency hotline. Thanks to Milo, their grateful neighbor is on her way to full recovery.
