A pig has built an odd friendship with a dog with a crooked face. The pair seem inseparable!
Pax, a one-year-old pig, became best friends with Picasso, a mixed pit bull terrier, and corgi with a facial deformity. Pax was rescued when she was 12 weeks old. Ever since, she has been raised together with Picasso and other rescue dogs in Oregon.
Liesl Wilhardt, owner of the rescue shelter said that she never thought about adopting a pig before. However, Pax seemed to fit perfectly along with the dogs. She even learned some basic dog commands and she even completed agility courses with them.
Picasso has a twisted upper mandible which made his face look crooked. He was given a Diamond Collar Hero Award in Oregon Humane Society because of his ability to get through unfavorable odds. Despite his appearance, Picasso became a very loveable and adorable pup.
According to Liesl, Pax, the pig has never been with other pigs. Maybe he thinks that she’s a dog too. Liesl fell in love with Pax because she’s so smart and she gets along really well with Liesl’s dogs. The pig doesn’t feel scared around dogs because she was practically raised along with 10 rescue dogs.
Pax grew so close with Picasso. Liesl thinks that the unusual looks were a huge factor why the strong bond was built. Pax take walks together with Liesl’s 10 dogs and she even has her own pink leash.
Liesl has been running the Luvavble rescue center for 20 years already. In the past, she never had a pig on the shelter. However, she became really disgusted when a breeder advised her friend who first rescued Pax to limit her food to prevent her from becoming too big. Liesl added it doesn’t matter how big Pax grows.
Just like an average dog, Pax enjoys taking agility courses. She never looked scared of anything. She always displays her intelligence especially when facing new stuff. She also loves being around people and she doesn’t show any kind of aggression or fear when there are people around.
